As the primary regulatory body for Information Technology in Iran, the Information Technology Organization (ITO) plays a pivotal role in overseeing and supporting digital platforms and smart service providers.
Supporting Local Messengers
ITO actively supports six local messengers with over 40 million out of 60 million monthly active unique users in Iran. Four private messengers, namely Rubica Eitaa, Bale, and Sroush+, offer features like voice call, video call, and wallet services. The Message Exchange Bus (MXB) ensures interoperability among local messengers, marking a successful national-wide experience.
Supporting Startups (IRAN NOAFARIN)
IRAN NOAFARIN (irannoafarin.ir) is a comprehensive support system that facilitates access to information and facilities for stakeholders within the innovation ecosystem of Iran.
Venture Capital (Noafarin VC)
Noafarin VC, established in 1399, is one of Iran's largest Research and Technology Funds in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) with a capital of IRT 100 billion. It primarily focuses on venture capital but also provides financial facilities and issues letters of guarantee.
Open Data and National Data Catalogue
ITO's Open Data (data.gov.ir) and National Data Catalogue is an exemplary initiative, offering public access to a wide range of statistical data produced by local government agencies and organizations. It currently includes over 6,134 datasets from 410 registered organizations.
Evaluation of Datacenters and Cloud Services
As the central body responsible for regulating data centers, ITO evaluates and ranks public data centers offering co-location and cloud services. Successful evaluations have led to certifications for 11 private data centers. ITO also established private audit companies to ensure compliance with international standards.
