Iran's Minister of Communications Identifies Serbia as Gateway to Europe for Technology Cooperation
Upon his arrival in Belgrade, Iran's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Seyed Sattar Hashemi, described Serbia as a crucial entry point for Iran into Europe in the realm of technology.
According to a report from the Public Relations and Information Center of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Hashemi is leading a delegation to Belgrade at the official invitation of Serbian Minister of Information and Telecommunications, Diana Ristic. He emphasized that the purpose of this visit is to advance the fourth government’s strategy for "Technology Diplomacy," a campaign that initially focused on Eurasian countries, then extended to Latin America, and has now reached Europe.
During his discussions with his Serbian counterpart, Hashemi highlighted the imminent signing of a joint cooperation agreement between Tehran and Belgrade. This agreement will focus on communications and information technology, particularly emphasizing artificial intelligence. The signing is expected to be finalized during this visit after thorough deliberations.
Minister Hashemi outlined several key areas of collaboration under this memorandum, including the development of joint projects in various fields such as artificial intelligence, the establishment and expansion of cloud infrastructure, workforce training, and the exchange of technical knowledge in information technology.
Furthermore, he underscored Serbia's strategic position in Europe, asserting that the country could play a pivotal role in expanding Iran's technological presence in European markets and attracting foreign investment. He also mentioned meetings with the President of Serbia as part of the visit's agenda.
Seyed Sattar Hashemi's delegation arrived in Belgrade on Tuesday, March 7, as part of efforts to promote "Technology Diplomacy" and enhance bilateral cooperation in various domains, including advanced technologies, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence, postal services, and the export of necessary communication network equipment, such as fiber optics.
