Iran, China ICT ministers discuss expansion of technological cooperation
Iran’s Minister of Information and Communications Technology in a meeting with the Minister of Industry and IT of China in Beijing on Tuesday reviewed the ways of expansion of technological cooperation with his Chinese counterpart.
In this meeting which last for two hours, the ministers emphasized development of bilateral ties especially in the fields of artificial intelligence, smart industries, development of communication infrastructure and human resource training.
Hashemi described the People's Republic of China as a "strategic partner and ally" of the Islamic Republic of Iran and emphasized the importance of strengthening of relations between Tehran and Beijing.
Referring to the 25-year strategic cooperation agreement between Iran and China signed in 2024 and the meeting of the presidents of the two countries in Kazan, Russia, he expressed hope that with a new and purpose-driven approach to the bilateral agreements, the path to their implementation will be accelerated, especially in the field of information and communication technology.
Exchange of experiences in the field of e-government and smart services, as well as educational cooperation and training of specialized human resources were other issues raised by the Iranian ICT minister.
The minister of industry and information technology of China called Tehran one of Beijing's important regional partners, emphasized the historical and friendly relations between the two countries, and called for expanding cooperation in technological fields.
Referring to Iran's extensive capacities in the fields of information technology, artificial intelligence, and communication infrastructure, Li Lecheng expressed China's readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation and implement the provisions of the strategic cooperation agreement with Iran.
"Developing technological cooperation will not only contribute to the national interests of the two countries, but will also play an effective role in promoting regional technological interactions," he said.
He invited Hashemi to participate in the ICT ministers conference of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in China.
Hashemi’s visit to China is in line with the implementation of the strategic policies of Iran’s ICT Ministry for developing technological relations with friendly countries and within the framework of the diplomacy of technology.
Meetings with senior Chinese government officials, holding specialized meetings with managers of large technological companies, and visiting scientific and research centers are on the agenda of Hashemi’s visit.
The Iranian ICT minister is also scheduled to deliver a speech at the Beihang University in Beijing on challenges and opportunities of the artificial intelligence.
