Deputy ICT Minister Emphasizes Data-Driven Governance on World Telecommunication and Information Society Day

Tehran, Iran – May 17, 2025 – Dr. Sadr, Head of the Information Technology Organization of Iran (ITO), issued a statement on the occasion of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day. Dr. Sadr’s message highlighted the crucial role of communication technologies in shaping a smart, responsive, and people-centric future. "In a world where the speed of data exchange has become the cornerstone of economic, social, and cultural transformation, communication is no longer just a tool, but a key infrastructure for modern data governance and public participation," the statement read.

 

Dr. Sadr emphasized the ITO’s leading role in developing the country’s communication and digital infrastructure through transformative policies and initiatives. He cited the integrated development of e-government services, strengthening the National Information Network, enhancing data exchange security, and supporting technological innovations as key steps taken towards advancing ICT development in Iran.

 

Looking ahead, Dr. Sadr underscored the importance of leveraging the vast potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in digital governance. “At the Information Technology Organization of Iran, we are leveraging the expertise of domestic specialists to design and implement systems that enable the provision of accurate, fast, and targeted services to the public. Artificial intelligence, alongside cloud technology and cybersecurity, will soon form the main pillars of data-driven governance," he stated.

 

He emphasized the crucial role of communication in connecting citizens with modern governance structures. "Public relations play a facilitating role in this ecosystem, but today, more than ever, the main focus is on 'smart communication' based on data and technology; communication built on trust, transparency, and public participation."

 

Dr. Sadr concluded his message by congratulating all those working in the field of ICT, particularly his colleagues at the Information Technology Organization of Iran, on World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.
