Iran's Digital Transformation: A Surge in National Information Exchange
In an exclusive interview with Mehr News Agency, Mohammad Khansari, head of Iran’s Information Technology Organization, shed light on the remarkable surge in transactions at the National Information Exchange Center. Since the advent of the thirteenth government, the center has recorded an increase in activity, boasting approximately 2 billion transactions from its inception to the commencement of the current administration.
During the tenure of the thirteenth government, the center has demonstrated exceptional performance. From July 2021 to March 2022, the center handled around 2 billion transactions. The subsequent year, 2023, marked a significant leap, with the transaction count soaring to roughly 7.5 billion. This upward trend persisted, with the numbers surpassing 8 billion transactions By March 2024.
The Deputy Minister of Communications provided insights into the latest advancements at the National Information Exchange Center, unveiling the successful implementation of over 3,000 services. Currently 152 companies provide services for more than a thousand organizations.
Detailing the efficiency and performance aspects of the National Information Exchange Center, it was shared that four main operators are actively engaged. Two of these operators began their services at the start of the year, focusing on government-to-business (G2B) services. A third operator, dedicated to security services, commenced at late 2023. Notably, the Ministry of Economy and Finance launched the first organizational service gateway for device services exchange on January 2023, with plans to extend its operations into the next year.
Looking ahead, Khansari outlined ambitious plans for the upcoming year, prioritizing the development and modernization of the center’s software and hardware infrastructure. Key initiatives include the design and development of hosting solutions for basic databases in line with the National Data and Information Management Laws and Regulations, as well as the provision of electronic services directly through the National Information Exchange Center.
