Iran's Deputy Minister of ICT address Multilateral Internet Governance and Digital Divide Reduction

Iran's Deputy Minister of ICT raised the importance of Enhanced Cooperation as an agreed and long-awaited mechanism for multilateral Internet Governance and bridging the digital gap, in WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2024.
Dr. Mohammad Khansaari, the head of the delegation of Iran at the WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2024, in Geneva, showcased the nation's steps in key areas in the field of ICT, such as expanding fiber optic networks, boosting mobile broadband access, and advancing e-government and smart services. His overview also explored Iran's digitalization progress across various sectors, such as healthcare, commerce, education, and agriculture.
He also emphasized some of the unfinished WSIS objectives. These include bridging the digital divide, establishing an effective multilateral and inclusive framework for internet governance through Enhanced Cooperation which is an agreed mechanism in WSIS Tunis Agenda, and ensuring that multinational digital platforms are held accountable to the countries in which they operate.
