The latest on Iran’s Digital Economy Platforms: A Leap Forward in Open-Source Integration
In an exclusive interview with ISNA, Mohammad Reza Nowrouzi, the Deputy Director of Basic Services and Digital Assets at the Iran Information Technology Organization (ITO), emphasized the critical importance of upholding the responsibilities outlined in the regulation supporting digital economy platforms and businesses. Noteworthy among these responsibilities are the precise evaluation of applicant platforms and the facilitation of eligible domestic platforms to leverage the regulation.
ITO’s Deputy Director of Basic Services and Digital Assets provided some insight into the operational activities conducted, revealing that over the past year, a comprehensive array of Linux packages pertaining to open-source operating systems, programming languages, and prominent tools such as browsers, open-source databases, big data analytics infrastructures, and artificial intelligence libraries were made available.
Nowrouzi marked the year 2023 as a cornerstone for the organization’s commitment to the digital economy, describing the commitment to fulfilling the obligations specified in the regulation supporting digital economy platforms and businesses as a significant achievement.
He stressed the significance of assessing applicant platforms, introducing eligible platforms, conducting follow-up sessions with agency representatives, coordinating and overseeing the execution of tasks mandated by the regulation, and ensuring diligent follow-ups by agencies to effectively carry out these responsibilities.
