Iran's Information Technology Organization held Workshop on AI and E-Government in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)+20 Forum High-Level Event 2024

Iran's Information Technology Organization (ITO) and Iran University of Science and Technology held a Thematic workshop focusing on "Artificial Intelligence and E-Government: Opportunities, Challenges, and Future Landscape" in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)+20 Forum High-Level Event 2024.
According to a report by the ITO'S Public Relations Department, governmental policymakers from Iran and Oman, a representative from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), and university researchers were attend as panelists in the workshop.
Dr. Mohammad Khansari, the Deputy Minister and Head of Iran's Information Technology Organization of Iran, delivered his speech in this workshop about the outlook of e-government in Iran and highlighted recent successful attempts in implementing intelligent services within the government.
Before him Dr. Shahhoseini from Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST), introduced panelists and talked about the theme of the workshop, Artificial Intelligence and E-Government. The third panelist was Mr. Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al-Kharusi, the Digital Development Manager at Oman's Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, shared key insights on the effective implementation of e-government practices and showcased successful instances of artificial intelligence integration in services in Oman. Then Mr. Deniz Susar from UNDESA, overseeing e-government evaluation at UNDESA, delved into the evaluation process of e-government initiatives and discussed forthcoming strategies across different nations.
Finally Dr. AminTousi from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and Dr. Seyed Mohammad Razavizadeh, the Head of the ICT Research Institute (ITRC), illuminated the concept of "electronic participation" in e-government with a specific focus on artificial intelligence. They outlined notable applications of artificial intelligence in Iranian e-government services, including cultivated land identification, unauthorized construction detection in natural resources, chatbot utilization for user inquiries, employee satisfaction surveys within government agencies and biometrics-based identity verification.
