Iran and Oman Discuss Expansion of ICT Ties

Hashemi emphasized the strong ties between Tehran and Muscat as a foundation for enhanced collaboration, noting that while there are capacities to improve relations in information and communication technology, more efforts are needed to realize current agreements. He highlighted the National Post Company of Iran, the Special Economic Zone, and Payam Airport as key platforms for cooperation.
Behzad Akbari, deputy minister and CEO of the Telecommunications Infrastructure Company, stated that their collaboration in telecommunications infrastructure presents an opportunity to develop the region's digital ecosystem. He noted that Oman serves as a hub for submarine cables and, with Iran's access to Central Asia and Europe, both countries can enhance their roles regionally and globally.
Ambassador Almuaini acknowledged Iran's advancements in information technology and expressed Oman's eagerness for mutual cooperation, particularly in communications. After learning about potential collaboration areas and the capabilities of the Iranian ICT ministry, he committed to relaying this information to the Omani government.
