Iran Urges Indonesia to Expedite Bilateral Cooperation Initiatives

TEHRAN, Iranian Minister of ICT called on the Indonesia to expedite the preparations for the early convening of the bilateral joint commission. According to the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology,expressing congratulations to the newly formed cabinet in Jakarta, Hashemi conveyed optimism about the potential for enhanced relations between Iran and Indonesia.

As the Iranian co-chairman of the commission, Hashemi emphasized that the ICT Ministry has been actively pursuing the ratification of a preferential trade agreement alongside a review of the bilateral customs agreement currently under consideration in the Iranian parliament. "Given the depth of our relations and active interactions, it is imperative that we accelerate the implementation of our agreements," he asserted.

The minister also highlighted notable achievements within the Iranian ICT sector in areas such as content production, e-commerce, and smart energy management. He pointed out that these fields offer rich opportunities for knowledge sharing and technology transfer with Indonesia.

Furthermore, Hashemi acknowledged Indonesia's prominent position within the ASEAN bloc, expressing Tehran’s aspirations for increased collaboration with the Southeast Asian nation. This renewed focus on cooperation is expected to bolster both countries’ technological advancements and economic growth amidst a rapidly evolving regional landscape.

Indonesia and Iran Seek Enhanced Cooperation in E-Banking and Cybersecurity

During the dialogue, the ambassador pointed out the extensive bilateral cooperation capacities that exist, welcoming Iran's experience in communications, cybersecurity, and relevant technology platforms. This acknowledgment reflects a strategic approach to leveraging each country's strengths to benefit mutual interests.

Ambassador Yuliantoro also advocated for increased engagement between research and educational institutions of both countries, proposing that academic exchange could further bolster understanding and innovation in these critical fields.

Regarding administrative changes in Indonesia, the ambassador noted that the formation of a new government had delayed the upcoming meeting of the joint commission with Iran. Nonetheless, he expressed optimism, stating that the new administration in Jakarta aims to elevate cooperation with Tehran as part of its broader foreign policy objectives.
