Iran's Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Seyed Sattar Hashemi, has advocated for expanding relations with Saudi Arabia, particularly in ICT. ICT Minister Advocates for Strengthening Tehran-Riyadh Relations

According to the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology,in a meeting with the Saudi Ambassador in Tehran, Abdullah bin Saud Al-Anzi, he highlighted potential cooperation with Riyadh and emphasized the significance of information and communication technology in enhancing bilateral ties.

“Cooperation in the area of data transit from Iran to Saudi Arabia, as well as from Saudi Arabia to Africa, and vice versa, including data transit from Saudi Arabia to Iran and subsequently to Afghanistan, Central Asia, China, and the Caucasus region, is the most crucial issue to be placed on the agenda,” Hashemi stated.

The minister added that the development of communication infrastructure, cybersecurity, platform security, and e-government are additional fields where Iran and Saudi Arabia can collaborate.

He expressed Iran’s readiness to transfer scientific and technical expertise and facilitate the exchange of delegations and experts between the two countries in the realm of information and communication technology.

The Saudi envoy also underscored the importance of improved relations between Riyadh and Tehran, as well as bilateral cooperation in various sectors.

Abdullah bin Saud Al-Anzi stated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is prepared to strengthen ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
