Iranian VP Calls for Regional Cooperation in Digital and AI Economy at 2025 Almaty Digital Forum
Iranian Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref has underscored the need to counter unilateralism in the digital and artificial intelligence (AI) economy, emphasizing regional cooperation for joint technological advancements.
According to the Gulf Observer, Aref traveled to Kazakhstan on Thursday to participate in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Prime Ministers’ meeting, as well as the 2025 Almaty Digital Forum. Addressing the forum on Friday, he called on member states to collaborate in the development of digital and AI-based products to harness the vast potential of the region.
In his address on the second day of the forum, Aref outlined key proposals aimed at fostering digital economic integration among EAEU member states. These included the interconnection of communication infrastructure, harmonization of digital economy regulations, and facilitation of joint platform development. He further stressed the importance of cooperation to establish and expand shared digital and AI tools, ensuring inclusive governance in the sector.
“The time has come for Iran and the countries of the region to join hands in laying the groundwork for a new digital and industrial era,” Aref stated, emphasizing the strategic necessity of collective efforts in this rapidly evolving domain.
The Vice President’s remarks reflect Iran’s commitment to strengthening regional partnerships in technological innovation, underscoring the nation’s active engagement in shaping the future of the digital economy within the EAEU framework.
