Ministry of ICT Joins National Energy Imbalance Remedy Program
In line with implementing the proposals of the Ministry of ICT regarding addressing the imbalances in the energy sector and ensuring fair distribution of subsidies, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the ITO the National Gas Company.
According to the public relations office of ITO, Mohammad Mohsen Sadr, the head of the organization, stated at the signing ceremony of the joint cooperation agreement that the proposals from the Ministry of Communications regarding energy imbalances have been raised for over three months and have been discussed in meetings at various levels with the presence of the highest-ranking officials in the country.
The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology emphasized that there is now a need for a revolutionary action in the field of data governance, adding that the proposals from the Ministry regarding energy imbalances have been approved by the heads of the branches of government, the First Vice President, and the Ministers of Oil and Energy.
Sadr also referred to the coordination established with the Ministry of Oil and the National Gas Company, considering it the beginning of a positive development, and expressed hope that these events would lead to greater strides in data governance. He stated that informing the poeple about their ownership of the country's energy is a positive step. If gas and electricity consumers know how much of these energies they own, they will reconsider their consumption habits.
Currently, this plan is fully supported at the government level and by the Planning and Budget Organization, and we have considered various aspects of it to ensure that the process yields encouraging results and adheres to the scheduled timeline, leaving behind satisfactory outcomes.
Sadr continued, stating that we are currently conducting a type of situation awareness in governmental agencies regarding data governance so that this information serves as a basis for decision-making. This solidarity and empathy will have impactful results for the country, and we feel obligated to collaborate more powerfully and accurately with the National Gas Company in addressing gas imbalances.
Sadr emphasized that problems should not be viewed in a fragmented manner, and on the other hand, it is essential to exercise sufficient caution in sharing useful and necessary data.
